Be your own boss!

  • Becoming an independent contractor is one of the many ways to be classified as self-employed. By definition, an independent contractor (also known as freelance work) provides work or services on a contractual basis.

  • Get paid weekly via PayPal directly!

    Payments from your event(s) are sent every Wednesday!

  • You get to set your own rate!

    Remember, the rate you decide on is crucial not only for your earnings but also for ensuring that clients recognize the quality of your talent and service.

    When setting your hourly rate, it's important to consider that this will be the amount you are paid for your services. Our platform applies a 20% booking and support fee, which is in addition to the visible rate on the website. Client’s invoices will reflect both your hourly rate and the booking/support fee combined.

    The cost of booking and support fees are paid by the customers (NOT YOU!) and plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for both customers and the characters. These fees help cover essential expenses you would otherwise have to pay yourself, such as website hosting, credit card processing fees, and the cost of advertising and marketing that keeps reaching new clients. By investing in these areas, we can maintain a user-friendly platform where you can easily be found and hired.

    Minimal Rate

    To ensure fair compensation for the incredible talents that you bring to parties and events, we have established a minimum hourly rate of $75, along with a one-hour minimum requirement. This helps protect our Company Members from being undercut by competitors. You may choose to set a higher minimum rate based on your experience and the value you provide.

  • Payments are not considered a salary or wages for tax purposes. That means no federal income taxes, Social Security taxes or Medicare taxes are taken out before you receive the money.

    You will receive a Form 1099-MISC reporting all of the income they paid you the previous calendar year if you made more than $600.

Responsibilities

    • You get to choose who you want to be! Dress up as fun and engaging characters to entertain children at parties. You must provide your own costume and accessories.

    • Interact with kids, lead games, and participate in activities to create unforgettable memories. You need to have some ideas prepared to do with the kids (some examples can be but limited to singing, story-telling, games like duck-duck-goose)

    • Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor while embodying the essence of the character. Always be in character!

  • We prioritize safety by conducting thorough background checks on all our Company Members.

    • You must pass a background check prior to becoming a company member.

    • You are responsible for paying a one-time nonrefundable $35 background check fee. This is the ONLY fee you will pay to join forever.

    There are NO additional fees, memberships, or future cost to you.

  • You must make sure you always have reliable transportation to any event you accept.

    It's smart to always have a backup plan (like Uber, COTA bus) for those emergencies (flat tires, car won't start) that happen.

    Backup plans help prevent you from a panic so you can ALWAYS BE ON TIME! Remember your reviews matter.

  • We do not charge any sign up fees or annual registration fees to give you full access to our website, clients and knowledgeable teams.

    This is your own business! (talk to a tax accountant about write-offs) You get the freedom to make your own schedule and decide what is worth investing in your business.

    REQUIRED COST:

    • Background check

      View that section for information on the one-time cost required before gaining access to clients on the website.

    OTHER COST:

    These can be cheap or even free, but these are the important things that clients will mainly judge when deciding who to hire

    • Costume

      You have the choice as to which character(s) you want to be! How to get your costume and accessories like wigs and shoes is up to you. You can make your own, get an elaborate custom costume from places like Etsy or you can find some on Amazon or gently used clothing stores. It's important to keep in mind that customers choices are made based on the look.

    • Photos

      You cannot include anyone else in your photo without explicit permission!

      Having great photos is how you sell yourself! Sometimes free cellphones pictures are great, with the right lighting and background. Although it's a good idea to consider a professional who's working with characters before like Ashley Laine Photography.

    • Transportation

      Make sure you have a reliable and realistic way to get to your gig!

Step 1

Fill out the application. Click the “Get Started” box below.

Step 2

Complete the background check. After you submit your applications, you’ll be directed to complete the required background check. Background checks usually take 1 business day to process but can take up to 4 days.

Step 3

Create your profile. After you have passed your background check, you’ll receive an email to upload your pictures and information.
